Susan Friedland, author of Marguerite, Misty & Me, will share images and stories about the Chincoteague Ponies, the yearly roundup of the ponies and Marguerite's life.
This is the 100th anniversary of the Chincoteague Pony Swim! Come along for the ride while local author, Susan Friedland, shares her stories and photographs from previous pony pennings and introduces you to the woman who wrote about the ponies. Marguerite Henry is the author who made these ponies famous with her books about Misty, the Chincoteague Pony. Marguerite grew up in Milwaukee, but she wrote her iconic, Newbery-winning books as an adult in Wayne, Illinois. Marguerite and Misty did many pony publicity events in the Chicagoland area including Marshall Field's, libraries and schools, the St. Charles Country Club, and Brighty did a book signing with Marguerite in Dundee at the dime store her husband Sidney owned.
Susan will have copies of her books for sale - Marguerite, Misty & Me in both the adult and young reader versions.
